Sweet caramel, butterscotch, honeysuckle and browned butter lead off in the nose. A rich, deeper, almost almond sugar note takes over on the palate, which is both compelling and direct as this is not a subtle Cognac. There is lemon citrus, resin, mandarin orange, Asian pear and red delicious apple that hover in the background. And while most Cognacs are subtle and refined, this is a little bolder, more of an American style, if you will, that announces itself and suggest that this is something you need to contend with. This has a slighter sweetness more so than traditional Cognacs but that is mitigated by the deeper and richer spicy elements of this iteration.
