Aquavit’s heritage is Scandinavian – think infused Norse Vodka – that often leans into the licorice zone. Here’s a new take on the spirit, one that features citrus fruit and caraway to great effect. The nose is quite seductive, with layered notes of Meyer lemon and orange that are undergirded by butterscotch and caramel. This may lead you to expect a sweet palate, but what you get is a burst of caraway, pleasantly bitter orange zest and dill that linger long with no sweet or overtly viscous character. I can see wide application here, from serving neat as a digestivo to adding a new twist to your favorite gin-based cocktails. Fun! 94
