The nose on this is classic London dry, that crisp clean, aromatic traditional gin that you sometimes crave. There are traditional flavors as well; mint, eucalyptus, juniper, citrus and pine-herbal notes folded into a complex but cohesive whole. It also offers additional botanical notes normally unused in this style – green cardamom, nutmeg, cumin, cassia bark, cubeba pepper (also known as piper cubeba, or tailed pepper – it offers an almost allspice note), and lemon. On the palate, there’s a nice nutmeg kick up front that folds some gentle sweetness at just the right moment, with cinnamon and orange peel melding nicely thereafter. This is also quite well balanced – one flavor doesn’t dominate. Handy as a mixer for more upscale cocktails, this is also delightfully able to be a stand-alone sipper. Herbal, spicy, fruity, light sweet and even a lighter bitterness, this is a versatile gin that offers a complete package. 92
