For a reposado, this is very light in color. At first this might be of concern, however this keeps the usual earthy, spice notes of the agave, and adds just a slight amount of sweetness, noticeable from the brief aging in barrel. The Tequila rests for over two months in new, small, American white oak casks. Aging in new oak casks creates some additional vanilla and creamy notes, but these are not pronounced, making this less sweet and butterscotch-y than most repos on the market right now. It’s not an overly complicated reposado, but it doesn’t taste mass produced either. Therefore this works well as a mixer, or is fine on its own without any oily viscosity or obtrusive caramel notes, so you actually get to taste the tequila. Frankly, the point of repo is that the barrel supports the agave, not dominates it. Mission accomplished. 92
