Young & Yonder is under new ownership since my last visit, and the new team has a serious eye on quality and experimentation. This California Straight Bourbon (yes, actually made in California, not just elaborated) is finished in port wine casks from Sonoma Port Works, adding a dash of red fruit character to the classic maple and fall spice bourbon profile. It’s not at all gimmicky, finding a fine-tuned balance point between all the aroma and flavor elements and finishes long and fully integrated. This is a brand to keep an eye on. Top flight stuff! 95
