As brown spirits prices have continued to rise, the folks at Uncle Nearest wisely decided to offer a less expensive, approachable everyday whiskey that wouldn’t break the bank and that would provide a satisfying drinking experience. Mission accomplished. The nose is exactly what you would expect: browned butter, caramel, sweet corn, and butterscotch. In the glass you’ll find notes of resin, apricot, candied almond, honey, slightly creamy vanilla, lightly toasted grain, minimal clove, toasted oak, and a little bit of grassiness and floral along with herbal like fennel. This is not a complex whiskey, but it’s not trying to be. It is however a solid value and one that over delivers on price. It is also a great entry whiskey for those new to American brown spirits. 94
