This fifth-generation family produces a fairly light version of repo, however it is nonetheless a solid effort. Additive free and made from all estate Blue Weber agave, it offers up definitive agave notes – earthy, lightly sweet and peppery, with resin notes, browned butterscotch, caramelized sugar and light fruit like apricot and peach as back notes. There is a moderate burn served neat, but nothing too harsh and the light lingering vanilla and caramel from the barrel notes (only a minimal resting period in neutral barrels, hence the lighter style) work their way nicely through the palate. As Tequila prices rise, Arette will become an increasingly excellent value for its price point. 91
