Sometimes scarcity is the mother of discovery. Recently on the hunt for a few bottles of Aperol for a party, I stumbled on this bottle sitting next to the last two bottles of Aperol, gave the label a quick read and decided to give it a spin. I’m sure glad I did – it lands right in between Campari and Aperol on both bitterness and alcohol scales while being far less sweet than either. It’s still colored with natural carmine (I’ll let you look that one up) and though it’s wine based, its uses seat it more in the spirits world. The wine base gives a richness to the texture, which changes up the typical spritz nicely. Don’t miss trying it alone as an aperitivo, or sliding it in where you might otherwise use its more popular cousins – I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised. 93
