American brandy, especially fruit brandy, has been around since the 1600s. More to the point, peach brandy was the most profitable spirit and was being distilled in the American Colonies as early as 1645. But as other spirits became popular flavored brandy has taken a back seat, in many ways reduced to a second tier spirit. Though this brandy has an added peach liqueur and artificial coloring, it’s still a decent peach brandy as a mixer for cocktails. It comes off as a little too sweet, artificially so, but the peach notes are there, as well as light caramel, and even lighter citrus notes. There are also vanilla notes and a whisper of brown spice. There are a surprising number of easy to make cocktails that utilize peach brandy, so having this on your shelf is probably a good idea. E&J does a decent job with this in that the flavors are in synch with what peach brandy is all about, even if this does have a simple artificial sweetness to it. 89
