Produced in San Baltazar Guelavila, Oaxaca, and using angustifolia agave and espadin maguey, this mezcal is a little more mild and less smoky than many mezcals. It does offer some campfire smoke, but it also offers noticeable agave, resin, a little earthiness, a dash of cocoa powder, and a slightly sweet finish. It works best as a cocktail mixer and is ideal for cocktails that want more than a tequila note, but without the overt mezcal smokiness. Going neat is fine if you want mezcal-light, but best to stick with this for mixing drinks, and considering it’s price, it will fill the bar nicely for your mezcal or tequila based cocktails. 91
