Review – When it comes to bourbon, most of the artistry comes after the distilling is done. Here, distiller Nate Randall selected different lots of bourbon with different mash bills, blended them and aged the blend in new charred American oak for up to five years, blended those lots to perfection and then transferred them to used wine barrels for finishing. I tasted batch #17, and it’s a winner, showing an attractive, mellowed nose of chocolate and fruitcake. The palate delivers on that promise, adding a touch of oak char and vanillin. It finishes long with the same mellow vibe that the nose began things with. Beautifully realized Bourbon. 94
