Here’s my first taste of a new line of products from my neighborhood in San Diego. The base is a proprietary alcohol called “Spirit of Kove” that is a fermented non-tea (think herbal tea) and sugar blend. This iteration includes peach, pomegranate and lemon juices, lemon and thyme oil and apricot extract, and the resulting tipple comes in at 5% ABV. It’s a sudsy, lightly flavored cocktail that delivers on the label promise, showing layered flavors and a little chalky texture that helps the flavor remain after you swallow the liquid. Nicely realized, and a tasty light refresher. If you know the movie Medicine Man with Sean Connery, you might imagine this as the peach punch concocted in the jungle.
