OVO was founded in 2019 by British expats Jon Dunnington and Anthony Packwood. OVO stands for “Our 5 (the Roman numeral V) Oceans, and to that end they use proceeds to help clean plastic debris from our waters. Made from corn, there’s a smooth viscosity to this, yet it lacks the overwhelming sweetness of most corn vodkas, since this is made from 100% American corn. There’s a sense of refinement with notes of resin, mint, sugared almond, light citrus zest, stone fruits and fresh cracked pepper. Dunnington and Packwood claim a “secret ingredient” that loses the harsh burn that some other vodkas have, and I can attest, they nail it. Serve this neat or as a mixer – either way, this is a fine vodka that actually tastes like something (the old adage that vodka should be odorless and tasteless is utterly incorrect) and though vodkas don’t rule the spirits world, this is a good addition to your cocktail bar. 92
