Cachaça is the national spirit of Brazil, and it makes up the bulk of the Caipirinha – the national cocktail. It’s typically an unaged, very simple cane-based spirit. But Sanhaçu raises the bar significantly with this offering, a blend of three different native wood (jequitiba rosa, balsam and umberana) barrel aged cachaças. The result is quite unique, with aromas of fresh banana bread, nut, grass and cinnamon spice that translate to a complex spicy palate that lingers pleasantly. Sip solo, or use it to jazz up a caipirinha in significant fashion. Perfect for the lingering autumn heat. Saudé! 93
