Though this offers a deep rich color, the expression itself is fairly light and mild. Considering this is a 12 year old you would expect something a little more deep, richer and complex, but unfortunately this does not deliver that. Yes it’s easy drinking, yes there is no burn, but the muted flavors of butterscotch, crème brûlée, butter rum, resin, wood and light spice are not very compelling nor fully integrated into the entry, the mid-palate and the finish of this whiskey. As a standalone, served neat, this does not offer much of interest, but that also means that as a mixer this would not offer much either. It’s pleasant, but innocuous and perhaps at the end of the day that’s not what you want. 89
